Environmental or Social Organizations

I am an active participant in the Fraser Basin Council Youth Committee.  As a member of the Committee I help to plan, develop and implement sustainability initiatives that engage youth and build their skills and capacity. As a committee, we also bring a youth voice to the broader work of the Council by participating on other FBC committees and programs in the Fraser Basin.

Youth Committee members Eddie Rothschild, Katie Youwe, Ruth Legg and Erina Park enjoy a moment on the banks of the Thompson River in Kamloops during the FBC Board meeting and field tour in June 2014. While on tour, they learned about innovative approaches to education at Chief Atahm School, a Secwepemctsin language immersion school, received an update on watershed management activities underway in the Shuswap region, and had an inside look at an agricultural waste composting facility.

FBC Youth Committee's latest meeting was at the FBC head office in Vancouver in January.  It was a meeting around revitalization and collaboration where we brainstormed about new and exciting ways that the Youth Committee can get involved with sustainability initiatives at a local scale and also basin wide.
