We created this website as part of a term project. All being from different parts of British Columbia, we have enjoyed working with and learning from each other. Here is a little bit about us as we strive to share what we have learned and we we want to go from here...
Jessica Braidwood
Jessica grew up in Whistler B.C. She believes that we have ample opportunity to educate ourselves, and in turn, have a social, cultural, and environmental responsibility to spread knowledge and awareness to our peers. In doing so, we can move towards more positive action and an educated dialogue in the areas of Native-non Native relations and environmental stewardship.
She has completed a Diploma in Outdoor Recreation Management from Capilano University, and is a 3rd year BIS degree student, concentrating in Geography and Environmental Studies at TRU.
Katie Youwe
Growing up in British Columbia, Katie believes that it is vitally imporantant to understand the history of the land around her.
Learning about the history and unanswered land questions has lead her to focus on Aboriginal Studies as part of her physical geography degree.
"There is so much to learn, both about the natural and social environment around us, and I hope to contuining learning to create some further connections."
Katie is in her 3rd year of her BA majoring in physical geography and hopes to graduate with an Aboriginal Studies Certificate.
Seraphine Munroe
Seraphine grew up in Williams Lake, B.C. She found that her environment was deeply impacted by misunderstandings. That their is a need to mend the frayed string binding our cultures together. Through her education, she hopes to be fundamental in instrumenting these changes through teaching, and developing the corresponding curriculum.
She completed her Associate of Arts Degree, is finishing her Bachelor of Arts with an Aboriginal Studies Certificate. With the onset of a Bachelor of Education on the horizon.
